[ Thorens TD 124 MK II turntable]

Well, this is my second TD 124. It is the MKII edition of this turntable. The differences between the MK I and the MK II versions are few. Some differences in the iddler wheel and obviously in the color of the chassis and in the color of the buttons (speed selector and speed adjuster). I own this unit since 1999 but until now it has been inside a box because it had some mechanical faults. In fact, not very important faults (missing bolts) but enough to doesn't allow its use. I have repaired the problems in this unit because recently I found a TD 135 and a TD 224 and I have used some bolts (in fact a pair) to fix the TD124 MK II. After 40 years since this unit was built and after 3 years of being inside a box, the TD 124 started to turn immediately. Only some cleaning and greasing was necessary, that's all. That say how good are these turntables. After switching on the unit I used it in the plynth I designed for my MKI unit for two hours and it worked perfectly.

The new unit is using the old plynth I built for my TD 124 MK I. Also the SME 3012R tonearm and the Rega Elys cartridge. Here you can see the final result.
